When we are looking for a solution to a problem, oftentimes the answer is “right in front of us”, if only we look in the right place. Interestingly, this is also true related to finding true joy and contentment in life. For example, there are approximately “100 million Bibles printed each year with over six billion in print” (https://wordsrated.com/bible-sales-statistics/). Additionally, a majority of households in the United States have multiple copies of the Bible, and if you own a computer you have 24/7 access to a Bible online. However, most people do not read the Bible to discover true joy and contentment available to those who place their faith in Christ Jesus as their Lord and Savior. For the Bible says that “The Law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the judgments of the Lord are true; they are righteous altogether. They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much pure gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, your servant is warned by them; In keeping them there is great reward” (Psalm 19:7-11, NASB). The reality is that we fall short of God’s glory on our own, and therefore we need the grace of God to forgive us, renew us, and to sustain us (Create in me a clean heart, God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and sustain me with a willing spirit” Psalm 51:10-12, NASB). In a world full of hate and sin, life is difficult, and most of us have experienced pain and suffering that is hard to bear. But know that the Lord is calling you – “Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is comfortable, and My burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30 NASB).
