This week I encountered several people who were hurting, from someone who that very day experienced the loss of a loved one, and those who are dealing with serious illnesses, to individuals faced with loneliness and depression. These are some of the harsh realities of living in a fallen world. But for those who are hurting or have just had a bad day or a bad week, or maybe life is just hard right now, there is hope. For this reason, my post today is a simple one. The God of all comfort, the One who sacrificed His Son for those who believe, offers hope for whatever you are experiencing. And my desire is that the following ten verses by the one true God and Creator of the Universe, will lead you to a peace that is beyond understanding, and that it will inspire you to seek further the truths of God’s Word in the Bible (Philippians 4:6-7, NASB).
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
Psalm 29:11 The Lord will give strength to His people; The Lord will bless His people with peace.
Psalm 145: 18-19 The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He will also hear their cry for help and save them.
Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and pleading with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified nor dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Psalm 9:9-10 The Lord will also be a stronghold for the oppressed, A stronghold in times of trouble; And those who know Your name will put their trust in You, For You, Lord, have not abandoned those who seek You.
Psalm 32:7-8 You are my hiding place; You keep me from trouble; You surround me with songs of deliverance. I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will advise you with My eye upon you.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer person is decaying, yet our inner person is being renewed day by day. For our momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
Revelation 21:4 and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”
