Last week I began exploring how God’s Word utilizes nature and gardens to facilitate spiritual understanding and growth, and the initial discussion was related to how God as the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth reveals Himself (see Genesis 1:1). I believe that by taking time to explore the wonder of the garden one can gain insight into God’s beauty and grandness. As the Word of God states that “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse” (Romans 1:20, NIV). My plan is to continue this discussion next week with a focus on The Garden of Eden.
For some people, although there is an acknowledgement of the mystery of nature, they still find it challenging to believe the truth of what the Bible states about God and creation. But, the reality is that there are many reasons why you should believe the Bible. So this week, before continuing my discussion on how gardens and other aspects of nature reveal the God of the Bible, I want to provide what I believe is an excellent presentation by Voddie Baucham on “Why you can believe the Bible”. Regardless of whether you have doubts about the validity of Bible or if you have a steadfast faith in the Word of God, I hope you take the time to click on the link below and listen to his sermon. As Voddie Baucham states “I choose to believe the Bible because it is a reliable collection of historical documents, written by eyewitnesses during the lifetime of other eyewitnesses, that report supernatural events that took place in fulfillment of specific prophecies, that claim that their writings are divine rather than human in origin”. Hope you enjoy.
